Funeral services for Myrtle Nubson - Johnson of Gillette will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastors Chad and Sonja Brucklacher officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the Stevenson ? Wilson Funeral Home from 3-7. Interment will be in the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Greenbush, Minnesota.Myrtle, age 98 and 9 months, died October 2, 2006 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home of natural causes.Myrtle J. C. Olson was born the daughter of Carl and Margaret (Sockness) Olson on Christmas Day, 1907. She was raised and educated in Greenbush, attending country school and then graduating from Greenbush High School in 1925. Upon her graduation she attended the State Teachers College in Bemidji, Minnesota for a year. In 1928 Myrtle moved to Minneapolis where she worked at Sears and attended Von Eschin?s Beauty School. After earning her certification she returned home to Greenbush, working as a beauty operator. On July 8, 1933, Myrtle married Henry Nubson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Greenbush where they raised their family and Myrtle operated her own Beauty Shop, appropriately named after her until 1947. She then devoted her time to her children while working part-time at Sather?s Department Stores. In 1961 Henry died and Myrtle continued to work part time at Sather?s and travel. Myrtle especially loved traveling to visit her children and grandkids and would stay extended periods to allow ample time with each. In 1967 she and daughter ReNee moved to Spokane where she worked at House of Fabrics. Myrtle married Douglas Johnson on July 8, 1974 and continued to live in Spokane until his death in 1981. Shortly there after Myrtle went to live with her daughter Pat in Grand Forks, North Dakota and would take several trips to visit Vernette. In 1996 while on a trip to visit her daughter Nola, Myrtle broke her leg and after staying in Gillette to recover she decided to stay here. Myrtle stayed active at the Senior Center by attending ceramic classes and having lunch with friends there. She was very accomplished at her hobby and would enter her projects at the fair, earning several blue ribbons and a grand champion just this year. Myrtle was very active in her church, Bethel Lutheran teaching Sunday School for many years and serving as the Sunday School Superintendent as well. She was the Ladies Aid district and local president and WCTU member and officer. Myrtle will be missed by her four children: Patricia Bloomquist of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Henry ?Buster? Nubson and his wife Gerri of Greenbush, Minnesota, Nola Wallace of Gillette, Wyoming and Vernette Moravek and her husband William of Phillips, Wisconsin; step-children: Larry Johnson and Sharron Schmidt and her husband Ron all of Washington; 9 grandkids, 7 great-grankids and 5 great-great-grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, 3 sisters, husband Henry Nubson; husband Douglas Johnson; daughter ReNee Rouse; sons-in-law Roger Bloomquist and Donald Wallace.In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested in Myrtles name to benefit the Bethel and Prince of Peace Lutheran Churches or the Campbell County Senior Center.
