Gillette

Steven Craig Neiffer was born August 13th, 1958 in Rapid City, SD to Hiram and Jeannette (Oleson) Neiffer.  The family moved to Hill City, SD in 1972 where Steven graduated High School in 1977.  After graduation, he moved to Gillette, WY and was employed at Wyodak Mine.  Steven later worked at PTI Transportation  for many years as the crew van driver for the railroad depot workers, and was still working there until the time of his passing.  It was during these years that Steven formed many lasting and meaningful relationships, that spanned many years, touched many hearts, and made for many memories.

Steven met and married Linda Harrod on September 21st, 1985 in Gillette.  Together, their life became one of bingo, country music, travel, fishing, and attending classic car shows.  Steven was also a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Black Hills German Club.

Steven is survived by his son, Mark Neiffer; siblings, Vicki (Bob) Olsen, Lisa (Mark) Rabenberg, Gwen Andrews, and Ronald Neiffer, all of Gillette.  He also leaves behind his baby girl, Mouse, who was his constant companion, as well as Steven's close friends, Amber Brown and her daughter (Rainan).  Steven was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents, and older sibling, David Patterson.

He was forever proud of his nieces and nephews and enjoyed visiting with them as often as he could; Chris (Kodi) Olsen, Andy (Britnee) Olsen, and Kelli (Critter) Zimmerman, Wesley  Rexin, and Alex Rexin, all of Gillette; Jana (Corey) Virtue of Custer, SD, and Houston (Lauren) Rabenberg of Casper, WY;  numerous great nieces and nephews; and Aunt Elaine Nelsen of Rapid City, and Aunt Audrey Neiffer of Kadoka, SD.

Funeral services for Steven will be conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church of Gillette on Thursday, December 7th beginning with a public visitation at 10am and formal services starting at 11am.  A graveside committal will immediately follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery, with a time of fellowship afterwards at Trinity Lutheran Church.
