Simon David Rummel, 52, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away on April 27, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him, after valiantly fighting a battle with cancer. Simon was born on February 12, 1974, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to John Clayton and Davett Lee (Guiher) Rummel. He grew up in Belsano, Pennsylvania, where his adventurous spirit and curiosity began early. As a boy, Simon loved taking things apart to learn how they worked, riding dirt bikes through the woods, building daredevil ramps to jump off, and raising pigs through 4-H.
After graduating high school, Simon spent many years as a nomad, working a variety of welding, maintenance, electrical, and industrial jobs. He enjoyed life and traveling was valued alongside meeting people of all walks of life, giving him the opportunity to grace others with his impossible craving to live life to its fullest. His travels in 2004 brought him to good ol’ Gillette, Wyoming. Where the plan to spend Christmas with family would lead Simon to meet Lisa Reeves, and his days as a nomad came to an end as they married on April 14, 2006, in Gillette. Simon often joked that half the reason he married Lisa was because of her son, Riley, whom he loved as his own from the very beginning. Together, Simon and Lisa built a life and family, welcoming two more children, Clayton and Audrey.
Simon never lost his love for dirt bikes, four-wheeling, and the outdoors. The passions of his that he more than happily shared with his family. Whether he was outside exploring or working in his garage, there was never a project he wouldn’t tackle. Determined and resourceful, Simon refused to give up until he figured things out. He was known for his willingness to help anyone in need, friends or strangers alike, never expecting anything in return.
Simon is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Rummel; his children, Riley Laher (24), Clayton Rummel (19), and Audrey Rummel (18); his grandson, Liam Laher; his parents, John and Davett Rummel; his sisters, Angel (Mike) Edwards and Wendy (Barry) Gramm; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herschel and Grace Rummel, and David and Margaret Guiher.
Though Simon’s passing leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now held in the arms of Jesus, free from pain and at peace.
