Shirley Barbara Bucholz

Shirley Bucholz, 87, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026. Funeral services for Shirley begin at 10 AM on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, with Donnie Colby officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service. Cremation interment will be in Mobridge, South Dakota this summer. Shirley was born to Emil and Barbara (Bentz) Hoff on February 28, 1939, in South Dakota. She was the youngest of four girls. She married Les Bucholz on September 15, 1957, in Hosmer, South Dakota. They lived in Ellendale and Ashley, North Dakota, where their two children Monica and Rick were born. They then settled in Mobridge South Dakota. While in Mobridge, Shirley worked at the Mobridge Tribune from 1968-1988. After the death of her husband in 1984, Shirley moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1988 to be near her children. Shirley worked at the News Record, Action Printing and Arrow Printing until she retired. After retirement, she worked part-time at Lakeview School as a lunch lady for several years and was Employee of the Month several times. Shirley enjoyed bowling, playing cards, golfing, and traveling – taking many trips with her sisters and friends. She was also an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making many quilts for her family and friends. She enjoyed many things, but her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her sisters, Solly, and Kate; her children, Monica (Jim) Mittleider and Rick (Becky) Bucholz. Her grandchildren, Trisha (Randy) Crowley, their children Colton (Luke and Lawson), Madalyn, Jace and Weston; Lisa (John) Clark, their children Carter, Ava, Bridget and Daxten; Christopher (Cara) Mittleider, their children Hank and Miles; Brittany Bucholz and her son Brody; and Joshua Bucholz.
