Scott Allen Veskrna, 54, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2026. He was the son of Anna Veskrna Gustafson and Roger Gustafson. Scott was born on March 25, 1972, in Omaha, Nebraska. Ann and Scott moved to South Dakota for the first five years of his life before later settling in Gillette, Wyoming, where Scott graduated from Campbell County High School in 1990. He then attended NWCCD Gillette campus. Throughout his adult life, Scott held various positions before becoming a conductor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad, where he dedicated the past 25 years of his career. An avid outdoorsman, Scott truly loved hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He made numerous trips to the Bighorn Mountains in pursuit of elk, deer, bighorn sheep, and lake trout, and even traveled to Canada to hunt caribou. He was a dedicated fan of the Wyoming Cowboys (Go Pokes!) and thoroughly enjoyed traveling to Denver with friends to catch hockey games. Each year, Scott looked forward to his annual golfing trip with close friends Dustan, Brett, and Eric as well as the yearly trip to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with his friend John. Scott also cherished a relationship with Audra and her son, Rio. They had many outdoor memories in the mountains of Wyoming. Known for his big heart and immense willingness to help others, Scott never met a stranger—anyone he met quickly became a friend. He was deeply spiritual and constantly reminded everyone to live life to the fullest, leaving a lasting impression with his unmistakable zest for life and adventure. Over the years, Scott shared his life with several beloved Labrador companions; his dog, Luna, was his faithful companion and his rock. Scott is survived by his mother, Anna, and her husband, Roger; his sister, Amanda; and his nephew little Scott, whom he thought the world of. Also, Judy (John) Kuckleburg, Joyce Riley, Allen (Kimberly) Veskrna and their families. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and his loyal companion, Luna. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Gus and Evelyn Veskrna. Betty Veskrna, Bob Veskrna, Shirley Veskrna, Tom Riley, and Annette Riley. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Marty Crump officiating. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2026 at Walker Funeral Home. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Walker Funeral Home 410 S Medical Arts Court, Gillette, WY 82716.
