Scott John Ashman

Scott John Ashman passed away at the age of 67 on June 30, 2025, where he was residing with his son, Ryan R Ashman in Gillette WY. Scott was originally from Warren County, NJ, and he attended Warren County Technical High School, (known as Warren Tech) in Washington NJ, where he majored in building construction.

Born on November 1, 1957 in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was the son of James F Ashman and Evelyn (Williams) Ashman-Kishpaugh, Scott is predeceased by both parents and three older brothers, James Ashman, Bradley Ashman and Michael Ashman, and is survived by his three children Kristin J Ashman of White Plains, NY, Thomas S Ashman of San Diego, CA and Ryan R Ashman of Gillette, WY, as well as two sisters Charlene Ashman and Michelle (Ashman) Hill, three grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

Scott was married to Loraine P Marlatt of Port Murray, NY in 1982 until their divorce in 1999, and was self-employed as an auto body specialist and towing service for several decades. He had his first auto body shop in Belvidere, NJ from 1982 to 1988. From there, he and his family moved to Alexandria Bay, NY, where he once again started an auto body business, and which he later moved to Philadelphia, NY.

Scott was known by many for his ambition and hard work ethic, along with being multi-skilled. In addition to his passion for classic cars and his ability to restore automobiles, Scott reconstructed and built several homes in NJ and NY. Ultimately, he retired in Lake Placid, FL, after living in Sarasota and North Port, FL. He resided with, and is now survived by, his long-term partner Jan Carr. Some of his hobbies included hunting and fishing, antique collecting and selling, and most recently, gardening and woodworking.

Scott was dearly loved by his significant other, children, and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott’s name to the American Cancer Society.
