Sandra Rae (Cleveringa) Pruss
Sandra “Sandi” Rae (Cleveringa) Pruss, 81, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her family.
Born in Rapid City, South Dakota, Sandi lived a life filled with laughter, determination, and a deep love for family and friends. Throughout her life, she worked in many professions, including serving as a dispatcher, and was known for her strong work ethic, resilience, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Sandi never met a stranger. A true social butterfly, she loved visiting with friends and family, sharing stories, and brightening every room she entered. She was well known for her quick wit and playful personality, often giving those she loved a hard time just to make them smile. Her sense of humor and spirited nature made her unforgettable to everyone who knew her.
Sandi had a lifelong love of horses. She was also a devoted fan of country music, especially George Strait, whose songs provided the soundtrack to many cherished moments throughout her life.
Sandi is survived by her daughter, Kay (Terry) Friedlan of Gillette, WY; son, Tim (Kit) Cleveringa of Lead, SD; grandsons, Derek Friedlan of Gillette, WY, Cody Friedlan of Denver, CO, Scott (Cassey) Cleveringa of Deadwood, SD, and Todd Cleveringa of Rapid City, SD and several beloved great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Pruss; son, Ross “Stormy” Cleveringa, brothers; parents; and grandparents.
Sandi will be remembered for her infectious smile, her ability to make friends wherever she went, her love of horses and country music, and the laughter she brought into the lives of those around her. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Inspiration Garden. A private family burial will follow the graveside service.
For those unable to attend, the graveside service will be livestreamed by Gillette Memorial Chapel.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center and Stillwater Hospice for the care, compassion, and support they provided Sandi during her time there.
