Ronald Keith Lynde

March 16, 1937 — June 11, 2025

Gillette

Ronald Keith “Ron” Lynde passed to his heavenly home on June 11, 2025. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Gillette, WY. Ron was born on March 16, 1937 to Joseph Lynde and Neuma (Barnes) Lynde in Gillette, WY., and was later joined by his younger brother, Darryl. Joe and Neuma later divorced and Ron and Darryl were raised by the man who stepped up and became their Dad, Neuma’s husband W.D. “Pug” Davidson. Ron thought the world of his Dad, Pug, and was always grateful for his influence and upbringing. He also spent much of his growing up years at the Lynde ranch south of Gillette where he enjoyed time with his Grandpa Worth treasuring the memories and lessons learned there. On July 24, 1956, Ron married his high school sweetheart, Ginny (Saunders) Lynde. Over their almost 66 years of marriage, they had many adventures, raising 4 boys together and enjoying a quiver full of grandchildren who were the light of their life. Desiring to serve his country, Ron joined the service in 1955 serving as a radioman until his honorable discharge in 1959. He was proud to have served his country. His Navy days led them to first being stationed in San Francisco then later in the Philippines. After the Navy, Ron and Ginny spent some time in Gillette where their family expanded to six, then moved to Laramie, Wy in 1964 for Ron to attend college where he then graduated in 1970 with a degree in Range Management. After graduation they moved the family to Sand Springs, MT, near the Fort Peck Reservoir where Ron was the ranch manager. 1974 found them headed back to Gillette where they owned and operated the Arrowhead Motel for several years. Ron also became involved in real estate working for VIP realty. The adventure bug hit again in 1979 when they bought Pahaska Tepee near the east entrance to Yellowstone where they and their sons ran the resort and a hunting camp. They later returned to Gillette where Ron and Ginny and their boys eventually became involved in the coalbed methane industry, forming and operating their own CBM development company. Ron was instrumental in procuring ways to utilize the benefits of the excess waters being produced by the coalbed methane production. After the sale of their business, Ron and Ginny retired and spent the next several years as winter snowbirds in Arizona enjoying friends, family visits, golfing and sightseeing as well as day trips to Mexico. Summers were spent in Buffalo, then later back to Gillette, full time, to be near family. Ron loved big when it came to his family and friends and made friends everywhere he went. The mailman, the barber, the Drs., the neighbors, the cleaning lady, the dentist, he left an impression everywhere he went as he was personable, likeable, a good listener and non-judgmental treating everyone fair and just. His boys (and grandchildren) have many stories of their growing up years where he led by example, sometimes to his own detriment! He was a man that wore many hats over the years and could do most anything he set his mind to. He dabbled in many different things and excelled at most. He was a man that liked to do things his way with a bit of a stubborn side that truly served him well later in life as he cared for himself after losing his wife, while dealing with advanced COPD and diminished eyesight. He had a strong determination to live life his way and he lived it well. Ron is survived by his four sons, Rich (Judy) Lynde of Gillette, Ray (Clarice) Lynde of Torrington, Wy., Randy (Susanna) Lynde of Gillette and Rex Lynde of Oregon, 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his brother, Darryl. Memorials are suggested to benefit WYldlife Fund (a nonprofit wildlife conservation organization to get kids into the great outdoors) - Www.WYldlifefund.org . Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716. Condolences may also be expressed at www.gillettememorialchapel.com
