Roland Kenneth Scott, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away May 8, 2026, at the age of 91 years at the legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, Wyoming.

Roland was born in Sweetwater, Texas on August 27, 1934 to John and Myrtle Scott. His childhood was spent in Texas where he grew up with four brothers and two sisters.

After graduating high school, Roland enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. He served his country proudly aboard the USS Saint Paul from 1951-1954. After his honorary discharge, he moved to Odessa, Texas where he married the love of his life, Dorothy Aleene Miller on October 27, 1957. The couple made their home in Texas, New Mexico, Montana, and Wyoming as Roland worked in the oil field industry as a roughneck, driller, and tool pusher. Together, they raised their six children Edward, Randy, Wayne, Ken, Kaylene, and Shannon. They settled in Gillette, Wyoming in 1974 and made it their permanent home. Have retiring from the oilfield, Roland enjoyed a part-time job driving for PTI, shuttling railroad and mine employees to their job sites, as well as taking care of Dorothy, who had developed COPD. She preceded him in death in 2011.

Roland is survived by his children Randy Pitman (Roseann), Wane Pitman (Lorna), Roland Kenneth “Ken” Scott (Beth), and Shannon Cubbon, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, and children Edward Pitman and Kaylene McCrann (Terry).

The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice and especially the wonderful, caring staff of the Legacy for their loving care of Roland the past few years.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 2:00pm at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with burial next to his wife, Dorothy, with a luncheon to follow.

Roland will be forever loved and deeply missed. We rejoice in knowing he is now held in the arms of Jesus, free from pain and at peace.
