Robert (Bob) Allen Herrick

Jun 10, 1949 — Jun 29, 2026

Gillette, Wyoming

Robert (Bob) Herrick passed away on June 29, 2026, at the age of 77 years.  Bob had been a long-term patient of the VA Hospital in Sheridan, WY.  Bob was a Christian and believed in God.  As Bob took his last breath, his wife Nancy knows that Our Lord Jesus Christ was waiting for him.

Bob was married to his wife Nancy for 31 years.  They married in Herlong, CA on April 22, 1995.  Three years ago, after Bob's retirement, they decided to make the move to Gillette, WY to be close to their families.

Bob's immediate family includes: his wife Nancy of Gillette, WY, his daughter Kimberly (Ray) Maser of Gillette, WY, his daughter Carri (Jeff) Corbitt of Brazoria, TX, his daughter Heather (Michael) Herrick Holliday of London, Kentucky, his brother Jeff Herrick of Reno, NV, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss their Papa Bob very much. Bob was preceded in death by his mother Marge Hannah, father Eugene Hannah, father Merle Herrick, Sister Barbara Ferguson, nephew Mathew Herrick, and great-granddaughter Raelynn Baldes.

Bob had a great love for family, God, Country, and the Military.  He enjoyed working in his yard: mowing, watering, and planting flowers.  He loved to plant and have a huge garden.  Bob dearly loved his horses and loved to just saddle up and go ride in the desert in Herlong, CA.  He and Nancy also had cattle.

Bob went into the Army at 17 1/2 years old.  He went to Vietnam and did two tours as a door gunner on the Huey helicopter.  Bob lost several of his buddies there.  After Vietnam, he came back to stateside and went into the Military Police Corps.  Bob was in a number of states as a police officer, and spent some time overseas in Germany.

After 22 years in the Army, Bob retired as a SFC-7, and went to Sierra Army Depot working with the Department of Defense as a police officer. Bob spent 23 years in that role, and retired as a Federal Police Officer.  That is when he and Nancy decided to sell their home in Herlong and make the move to Gillette, WY to be closer to family.  Nancy offers her sincere thanks to Gary Wilson for all of his hard work in getting the Herlong home ready to sell.

Bob and Nancy also spent many months & years raising their loving Shih-Tzu puppies and their adult dogs.  They brought some of their dogs with them to Wyoming.  Nancy wants to thank her and Bob's fantastic veterinarian and friend Tony Luchetti for taking such wonderful care of their furry kids for all of those years.

A very special and loving thank you to Sonja and Johnny Hieb for all they do as neighbors: checking in on Nancy, mowing the lawn, taking their trash can to & from the street.  Sonja also brought Nancy lots of good casseroles after Bob passed, as well as taking her to church on Sundays and to Bible Study on Monday evenings.  Also thank you to Wendy and Jeff for their words of sympathy as neighbors of Bob and Nancy.
