Ray Odell Chase February 11, 1971 – July 2, 2025 Ray Odell Chase, 54, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away on July 2, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming following a short illness. Ray was born on February 11, 1971, to Clinton “Dell” and Vickie Chase at the Air Force Base in Blytheville, Arkansas. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Gillette, Wyoming, where Ray was raised alongside his two brothers, Toby and Kelly. He graduated from Campbell County High School in 1989. In 1995, Ray met the love of his life, Michelle, and her daughter Ashton, who was just 10 months old at the time. Ray embraced fatherhood and loved Ashton as his own. The family moved to Empire, Colorado, in 1998, and Ray and Michelle were married the following year. In 2000, they welcomed their son, Taylor. In 2001, Ray moved his family back to Gillette to be closer to his parents. Ray spent many years working in the tire trade at GCR before retiring in 2023. After retiring, he partnered with close friends to start a hotshot company, which gave him the opportunity to travel across the country, an experience he cherished. When he wasn’t working, Ray could most often be found in the Bighorn Mountains, his second home. He had a deep love for the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing, riding the trails in his RZR, and camping with friends. One of his recent adventures included helping his dear friends Chuck and Brandie Wise haul out their elk during hunting season, which inspired him to take up hunting himself. He was excited for this upcoming season, having drawn his first elk tag. Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle Chase; daughter Ashton (Christian) Dayton; son Taylor (Aurora) Chase; and grandsons Kaiden and Collin Dayton, all of Gillette, Wyoming. He is also survived by his parents, Clinton “Dell” and Vickie Chase; brothers Toby (DeeDee) Chase and Kelly (Kenzie) Collins; nephew Ryder Collins; and his honorary best friends, Chuck and Brandie Wise. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray and MaryAnn Harney, Lena May and Harold Clinton Chase, uncle Casey Ray Harney and his nephew Bronson Collins. A celebration of life will be held on July 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., at American Legion (upstairs) 200 Rockpile Blvd, Gillette, WY.
