Nuala Patricia Penrose

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Nuala Patricia (O’Reilly) Penrose, age 86, of Gillette, Wyoming, formerly of Butte, Montana. Nuala passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She will be laid to rest at Mount Pisgah Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on October 28.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, on December 28, 1938, to Patrick and Angela O’Reilly, Nuala brought her Irish warmth and humor everywhere she went. On January 9, 1960, she married the love of her life, Peter Penrose, at Saint Columba Catholic Church. Together, they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage before Peter’s passing in June 2020. Soon after their wedding, they immigrated to Rochester, New York, where they began their family and lifelong adventure together.

Nuala was the heart of her family—strong, loving, and endlessly kind. Her laughter filled every room, and her faith and devotion inspired all who knew her.

She is survived by her eight children: Geraldine (Kevin) Boike, Patricia Kolberg, Brian (Patsy) Penrose, Gwendolyn (Elden) Grewell, Michael (Dana) Penrose, Gerard (Terri) Penrose, Desmond (Mindy) Penrose, and Adrienne (Bill) Miller; her sister Bonnie (Harold) Peacock; sister-in-law Marie (Gary) Angora; brother-in-law Michael (Diane) Penrose; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Peter; her parents Patrick and Angela; her sister Angela Byrne; and her brother Brian O’Reilly.
