A Memorial Service celebrating Nate’s life will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM at New Life Church, 1000 Comanche Ave, Gillette, with Levi and Jake Kissack officiating. Nathan Bart Kissack, 38, of Gillette, WY accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior April 29, and days later found eternal peace on Saturday, May 2, 2026, after an eight-year battle with leukemia. The epitome of grit, heart, and humor, he finished his race surrounded by those who loved him. Nathan was born March 2, 1988, in Gillette, WY, to Bart and Kathy Kissack. Raised on the family ranch east of Gillette, he lived a life defined by adventures and a refusal to settle for a dull moment. Attending concerts and standing firm in his friendships were Nate’s compass, with music leading him from the ranch to an audio engineering degree. He was immensely proud of producing his album, Hardship, Heartache, and Horse Thieves; a project deeply rooted in his Wyoming heritage. More than just a career, music was the catalyst for many of his deepest relationships, many forged backstage or at the concerts he so loved. Nate thrived on people, especially gathering people for a purpose. He became a relentless advocate for fellow cancer patients, rallying others to help ease the burden of medical bills through raffles and concerts. His “Victors Not Victims” mantra inspired many to charge headfirst into adversity and refuse to become a victim to tough circumstances. Whether at the gym, hospital, or the L-7 Ranch, Nate invested his life in others, never losing his humor or his fight. He was most proud of his title as "Uncle Nate" to his niece, LO, who truly held his heart. Over 2,839 days of battling cancer, Nate never once chose the easy path. Even when faced with the choice between "fight" or hospice, he chose to fight, courageously inviting the world into his vulnerable journey. He didn't just spend a decade fighting an illness; he invested it in inspiring everyone around him to make the most of the cards they were dealt. He invested in anyone who was willing to invest in themselves. Nate was preceded in death by his grandparents: Claude and Millie Kissack, and Ken Merklin. Nate is survived by his grandmother, Bonnie Merklin of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his parents, Bart and Kathy Kissack of Gillette, Wyoming; his brother, Levi (Taylor) Kissack, his daughter, Lauren (Lo) of Minnesota, and his brother, Jake (Lauren) Kissack of Hawaii. His biggest flex was, his friends. He was loved by many, and his impact will never be forgotten. “Go do something hard, eat a steak, and tell someone you love ‘em” -Nate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Nathan Kissack Memorial fund at First Northern Bank, which will be used to help other cancer patients in their fight. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716.
