Michelle Lynne Hamm

January 4, 1970 — June 10, 2025

Wright

Michelle Lynne Hamm, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love on June 10, 2025 at the age of 55, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Michelle Lynne Hamm was born on January 4, 1970 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the first of three daughters born to the beautiful union of Steve and Terri (Carroll) Riemann. As a proud Navy family, Michelle’s early years were spent living in Idaho, Washington and California before they settled in Billings, Montana in 1972. In 1984, they made Wyoming their home — a place Michelle would grow into adulthood and build a life filled with love and meaning.

Michelle attended Wright Jr./Sr. High School and graduated in June 1988. Later that same year Michelle would go on to marry the love of her life, her rock and best friend Robert Hamm. Robert and Michelle honored their vows in every way, through sickness and health. Their love story spanned 35 years and stood as a beacon of strength and devotion. Robert was her “hero without a cape,” and together they shared a bond that weathered every season with grace and tenderness.

Michelle and Robert would welcome two beautiful children in their union, Tyler and Lindsay who would remain the proudest achievement of her life. Michelle was a dedicated stay at home mom for the early years of her marriage where she raised her children proudly. Michelle returned to college to pursue her one true calling of being a caregiver and healer to obtain her LPN degree. She served patients in Gillette and Wright with compassion and care in various clinics through her career. While being diagnosed in 2004 with MS, Michelle still continued to earn her degree and work a number of years before the illness caused her early retirement.

Michelle was always a caretaker. Whether it be a stray creature or kid, there was always room in her heart and her home. She was a lover of all things living. From horses and goats to her beloved cats and dogs Michelle was always a lottery win away from having her own pet rescue.

Michelle and Robert made a lifetime of memories camping, boating, taking motorcycle trips with friends, snowmobiling, dancing to 80’s rock, going to concerts and welcoming everyone into their home. If there was one thing she loved, it was to be surrounded by laughter, the people she loved, and good memories being made. Even as her illness progressed, Michelle’s strength, humor, and deep love for her family never wavered. Her spirit was magnetic and generous. Even when life slowed, Michelle did not. She was always good for a laugh and a smile that could put the sun to shame.

Her children were the light of her life, and that light grew even brighter with the birth of her beloved grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. She was blessed to be “Grammy” to many and that may have been her favorite title of all. She was the soft place to land, the silly song to sing, the best sleep over to stay at, and the one who always had a listening ear. Mostly, she was love. Michelle loved her grandchildren with every bit of heart she had, and it was a lot. She was blessed by her children with 6 wonderful angels, Ty, Karis, Graysen, Tyelynn, Lorelei, and Waylon; they kept her fire alive and will carry on her love of laughter, her love for animals, her fierce loyalty, and her joyful spirit.

Michelle’s life was filled with beauty, resilience, and grace. Her legacy lives on in her family, in every kind gesture she gave the world, and in the deep, steady love she shared.

“Smell the sea and feel the sky.

Let your soul and spirit fly…

Into the mystic.” — Van Morrison

Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Robert; son, Tyler Hamm, daughter, Lindsay (Trent) Ruff; her grandchildren; mother, Terri Reimann; sisters, Nicole (Kenny) and Jennifer (Steve); brother-in-law, Eric (Teri) and many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.

Michelle was welcomed into heaven by her father, Steve; mother and father-in-law, Bob and Ardie Hamm; two brothers-in-law, Vince and David Hamm; best friends Kimmy, Gigitt, and Margy; and her many beloved pets.

A celebration of Michelle’s life will be held on June 20, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Gillette Memorial Chapel in Gillette with a reception to follow at Prairie Sky Venue from 12-5pm in the Fireside Room.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to a local animal rescue or National Multiple Sclerosis Society— two causes close to her heart.
