Michael Lester Boardman

Michael “Mike” Lester Boardman, age 71, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born May 9, 1955, to Jr. and Dottie (Adams) Boardman of Rapid City, SD. Growing up he lived a majority of his life in and around Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1974.

Mike married Peggy Casey in March 1981. Together they made their home in Rapid City and Farmingdale, SD, where they raised their two children Randy and Heidi. Mike later moved to Sundance then Newcastle before making his final destination in Gillette, WY with his SolDomus family.

Mike’s career path went from stocking grocery shelves to being a gas station attendant, then working at Black Hills Grayhound Race Track and City of Rapid City water department to driving school bus for the Rapid City School District. He had a love for horses, dogs, trucks and a big ole beef streak.

He leaves behind his daughter, Heidi Boardman Camp, Pierre, SD; son, Anthony (Tony) Deyo, Rapid City, SD; sister Dot (Mark) Gillett, Sheridan, WY; brothers, Tim (Peggy) Boardman, Moorcroft, WY; and Donnie (Annette) Boardman, New Underwood, SD; grandson, Declan Camp and granddaughter, Aviana Camp, one niece, several nephews, cousins, special care providers and friends.

Mike is preceded in death of his parents, grandparents, son, Randy Boardman and nephew Casey Boardman.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 5-7pm at Gillette Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., at Kirk Funeral Home, Rapid City followed by a procession to his final resting place in Pine Lawn Cemetery.
