Celebration of Life for Lloyd Darnall will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Donovan Voigt officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be after the service at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Community Room.  Lloyd Eugene Darnall of Gillette passed away on August 23, 2025, aged 98¾, at home surrounded by loved ones.

Lloyd was born at Fort Laramie, Wyoming, on August 29, 1926, to Glenn and Bessie (Chapman). He attended country school before moving into town for the last two years and graduated in 1945 from Fort Laramie High School. After graduating he moved to Lusk, Wyoming, where he met Lola Hoy. On June 15, 1947, they were married at the Presbyterian Church in Fort Laramie. They had four children—Calvin, Renee, John, and Katherine.

Lloyd had several jobs. In September 1949 he went to work for a freight company in Lusk. In June 1951, the company moved him to Gillette. When the freight company closed, Lloyd went to work for the City of Gillette for 13 ½ years before retiring. He was a member of Jaycees. He took boy scouts to wilderness camp in the Big Horn Mountains for seven years. He and Lola were members of First Baptist Church of Gillette for many decades. He loved many hobbies over the years: fishing, camping, traveling, hunting, woodwork, bowling, square dancing, attending high school sporting events, picture puzzles, and playing cards. He volunteered at the church, Cam-Plex, the soup kitchen, Pioneer Manor, and delivered reading material at the hospital. He loved going to the Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lola, his parents, and his brothers Harold and Robert. He is survived by his four children Calvin (Jackie), Renee (Bill, previously passed) Heaphy, John (Betsy), and Katherine (Charles) Cermak, and his 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

His heart was big enough to cover the world. He was always ready to help wherever needed, near or far. He adored get-togethers with family and friends. He always had a smile, hello, and hug for everyone. As Lloyd often said, “I was born talking and I’ll die talking.” In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Lloyd's name to benefit Campbell County Senior Center(lunch program) or to the 1st Baptist Church in Gillette. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716. Condolences may also be expressed at www.gillettememorialchapel.com
