Memorial service for Larry Lysne will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Family Life Church with Pastor Marty Crump officiating. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Larry Owen Lysne - husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather brother and friend. Larry passed away peacefully at his home next to his wife the evening of October 22, 2025. Larry was born on January 18, 1945, in Williston, North Dakota to Melvin and Thelma Lysne. He had three siblings, Eileen, Joan and Merle. He went to grade school in Hamlet, North Dakota and high school in Tioga. He met his future wife, Glennette Scheile, at the rehearsal dinner of Glennette’s sister, Sandi Crimmins. They married on a blizzardy North Dakota day in January 11, 1969. He recently wrote to her “I guess I am running out of words, but you were the best thing that ever happened to me. God Bless you.” Larry began working in the oil field for Brown & Root after high school in Tioga and was transferred to Gillette, Wyoming in 1969. In 1977 Brown & Root decided to cease oil field operations in Wyoming and Joe Freund traveled from Denver, Colorado with the intent to purchase some equipment. An unnamed individual mentioned to Joe that he should consider creating a new pipeline construction company and had the perfect person to run it - a 32-year-old named Larry Lysne. Joe and Larry entered into a partnership and Freund Construction was born. Larry operated Freund Construction until he retired and liquidated the company in June 2018. He took immense pride in his work and cared deeply for everyone that worked for him. He was a man that displayed an incredible work ethic. Larry and Glennette had two children - Anita (son-in-law Paul) and Jeremy (daughter-in-law Sue) and two granddaughters - Bailey Lysne Bunn (husband Cole and 5 month old baby Wayne Owen “namesake”) and Alexandra Adams Egli (husband John). Larry is survived by his wife, daughter, son, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, granddaughters, brother Merle and sister Joan. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Mark Walter’s, Father-in-law Glen Schiele, Mother-in-law Agnes Schiele, brother-in-law Art Moe, sister-in-law Vicky Moe and his sister Ilene. Memorials and condolence may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716. Condolences may also be expressed at www.gillettememorialchapel.com
