Kermit L. Johnson, age 78, of Gillette, WY, passed away on July 17, 2025. Born in Walhalla, ND, on December 29, 1946, to Peter and Gladys (Gallaway) Johnson, Kermit grew up in North Dakota and graduated from Grafton Central High School in 1964. He married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Odden, in 1967 in Grafton, ND.

Throughout his life, Kermit lived in various places, including North Dakota, Arizona, and finally Wyoming, where he and Darlene made their home. Kermit was a man of many talents holding numerous roles throughout his career, including commercial pilot, aircraft, airframe and power plant mechanic, federally authorized airplane inspector, licensed electrician, heavy equipment operator and welder.

Kermit’s love for adventure extended to his personal life as well. He enjoyed flying, fishing, and hunting. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family. His time in the US Army, from January, 1965 to August, 1965 when he received an honorable hardship discharge, further shaped his strong character and devotion to service.

He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Johnson; sons Brett (Isabel) Johnson of Gillette, WY, and Brenden (Brigette) Johnson of Hillsboro, OR; 4 grandchildren, Logan Gullickson of Hamilton, MT, Sabrina (Richard) Loya of Gillette, WY, Michael (Ashley) Johnson of Gillette, WY, and Amber Warren of Casper, WY; 5 great-grandchildren, Kade Johnson, Heather and Brantley Warren, and Richie and James Loya; as well as his siblings Kathy (Don) Steenerson of Grand Forks, ND, Karen (Jerry) Spillum of Pisek, ND, Keith Johnson of Hoople, ND, and Kurt Johnson of East Grand Forks, ND. Kermit is also survived by special sisters Glenda (Ken) Galaznik of South Carolina and Patti (Dan) Huey of Arizona, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Kermit was loved deeply by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Per his wishes, no formal services will be held.
