Kelly Haven Mankin

September 25, 1957 — December 24, 2025

Kelly H. Mankin, 68, was called home to the Lord on December 24, 2025. Born on September 25, 1957, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Kelly later made his home in Gillette, Wyoming, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and loyalty. He began his career at Eagle Butte Mine in 1977 and dedicated 42 years to the same operation, earning deep respect for his reliability, strong work ethic, and commitment to doing things the right way. Those who worked alongside him described him as hardworking, knowledgeable, and dependable—someone generous with his time and always willing to help others. Kelly married Janet (Moore) Mankin on December 21, 1975, after the two met as children on the playground in third and fourth grade. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Together, they built a life rooted in family, laughter, and enduring love. Kelly was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving “Papa,” and a loyal friend. He was known for his steady presence, warm sense of humor, and the way he made others feel welcome. He enjoyed spending time outdoors—especially fishing and exploring—and often shared those moments with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond L. Mankin and Rachel E. Mankin. He is survived by his wife, Janet Mankin; his son, Joseaph Mankin; his daughter, Sarah Mankin; his daughter-in-law, Susan Anderson; his grandchildren, Ella, Brendan, Gibson, and Ara Jayne; and several extended family members. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. A private family celebration of life will be held.
