Funeral service for Karen Carter will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Walker Funeral Home; interment to follow at Rozet Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2025 at Walker Funeral Home. Karen Carter passed away peacefully at her home in Upton, Wyoming, on September 13, 2025, at the age of 78. Born to Ole and Claire Knudsen, Karen lived a life marked by dedication, creativity, and deep community ties. She began her career with the U.S. Postal Service in the late 1970s at the Ralston Post Office, later serving in Powell before settling in Upton, where she retired as Postmaster in May 2009. Her decades of service were a testament to her reliability, warmth, and commitment to those around her. Karen married Luke Carter, and together they raised three children: Jamie Hatcher (Brice), Bobbi Snyder (Justin), and Jeffrey Carter (Winter). She found joy in quilting and scrapbooking, hobbies that reflected her love of storytelling and craftsmanship. She was also a proud board member of the Upton Senior Center, where she helped foster connection and care among local residents. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Claire Knudsen, and her brothers William and Hans Knudsen. She is survived by her children; her grandchildren: Jackie Land (Travis), Jeremy Hatcher (Liz), Alex Snyder (Nikki), Aaron Snyder (Hannah), Zac Snyder, Emily Warren (Lane), Abby Pratt (Anna), and Ian Carter; and her great-grandchildren: Jaden and Mason Land; Maddison, McKynzie, and Watson Hatcher; Kinsley Snyder and Evee Warren.She also leaves behind her brother Dennis Knudsen (Tina), Velma Eickhoff, Dianne Palik (Greg), and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Karen was surrounded throughout her life by dear friends whose support and love meant the world to her. Her legacy is one of kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to family and community.
