John Louis Quinnell, age 51, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 14, 1975, in Sidney, Montana, to Pete and Bonnie (Schriver) Quinnell, John grew up attending schools in Gillette and graduated from Campbell County High School. During his school years, he actively participated in the Special Olympics. Weightlifting was his favorite event, earning him many proud medals.
Following graduation, John built a strong work ethic. He worked at Albertsons for 15 years before retiring, later lending his talents to Rocky Mountain Sports alongside his dad, and working at Midas with his brother-in-law, Daniel.
John lived life to the fullest and cherished time spent with family and friends. He loved rodeos, camping, golfing with his uncles, shooting sports, riding four-wheelers, and dancing. A social person at heart, he always looked forward to what he called "man-to-man time"—hanging out with his brother, Ty, his brother-in-law, Daniel, or his uncles. Always ready for an adventure, John loved to travel, stay the night with family, and kept a packed bag ready to go at a moment's notice. He was also a devoted fan of his all-time favorite singer, George Strait.
He was deeply loved by everyone who knew him and will be missed beyond measure.
John is survived by his mother, Bonnie (Schriver) Quinnell; his brother, Ty (Joanna Mansur) Quinnell, and nephews Taylor and Colt Quinnell; and his sister, Tammie (Daniel) Rosier, step-nephew Shawn Rosier and Kaylee (Logan) Johnson, and step-great-nephew Bryson Johnson; and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Quinnell; maternal grandparents, Louis "Sonny" and Phyllis Schriver, and his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Olive Quinnell.
