Jerry Curtis Dexter, born on November 18, 1960, in Buffalo, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, at Monument Health Rapid City in South Dakota, after suffering a stroke. He was a beloved figure in his community and leaves behind cherished memories and lasting impressions.
Jerry dedicated much of his life to the automotive field, proudly owning a salvage yard that served the towns of Gillette, Moorcroft, and Sundance, Wyoming. His hard work and commitment to his craft made him a respected member of the local business environment, providing valuable services and materials to countless residents over the years.
Throughout his life, Jerry was known for his love and companionship with his dog, Gizmo, who brought him joy and companionship. Jerry’s connection with Gizmo was a testament to his caring nature and the warmth he extended to those around him.
He is survived by his brother, Russell Dexter, who will carry forward Jerry's legacy and memories. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dexter, his mother, Thelma Dexter, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents. Their influence and guidance shaped the man he became and their memories will always be cherished.
Jerry Curtis Dexter will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His impact on his community, his love for family, and his enthusiasm for his work will never be forgotten. The Dexter family would like to thank the Gillette Hospital ER and the ICU in Monument Health of Rapid City, for all their dedication and care.
