Funeral service for Jay will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the Inspiration Gardens at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Jennifer “Jay” Heimann, 76, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away on December 8, 2025, at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center. Jay was born Jennifer Patricia Daniel on February 8, 1949 in Mahnomen, Minnesota, to Bernard H. and Frances G. (O’Rourke) Daniel. She grew up on the family's dairy farm outside Mahnomen and graduated from Mount Saint Benedicts in Crookston, Minnesota. After graduation, she moved to the Maples St. Paul area and worked for Honeywell. In the early 1970s, she moved to Gillette, Wyoming, to be near her older sister, Kathy Bridges. She began working in the office for Dr. Baughman. Jay quickly established a career in the oil field, becoming one of the first female office managers at Davis Oil and HPC. It was at Davis Oil that she met and married John Heimann on May 15, 1975. Through this union, Jay became a stepmother to John’s five children. In 1985, Jay and John retired to Minnesota, where they built a lake cabin on Tulaby Lake. On March 21, 1991, Jay and John welcome their son Thomas, into the world. During this time, she worked in the office at Mahnomen Hospital and later retired as a lead in the vault from the Shooting Star Casino. Following the passing of her husband, John, and after her son completed his service in the Army, Jay returned to Gillette to be close to her son, step-children, grandchildren, and immediate family. Jay will be best remembered for her amazing sense of humor, infectious laugh, and her talent for organization. She had a love for coffee, all types of music and dancing, late night card games and hosting gatherings for family and friends. Jay was exceptionally talented in many hobbies, including painting, ceramics/crafts, quilting, and hand sewing.
She is survived by: Her son, Thomas Heimann; 1 Grandson; Her brother, Jim (Josy) Daniel; Five step-children: Lenny (Teresa) Heimann, Joyce (Neil) West, Bob (Tammy) Heimann, John (Sherry) Heimann, and Peggy (Steve) Adams; 10 Grandchild, 25 Great-Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Jay was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, sister and brother in-law Kathy (Jim) Bridges, and 1 grandchild Steven, 1 great-grandchild Halle.
