Jance Crouch age 77, of Gillette, WY passed away August 1, 2025 in Casper, WY at Central Wyoming Hospice. Janice Marie Crouch (nee Kinser) was born on October 14, 1947 to Virgil “Red” Kinser and Thelma (nee Hillenberg). She was raised in the community of Chapel Hill, Indiana. Janice had many brothers and sisters. Her siblings were a great source of joy and adventure throughout her life and because of them she was never without a friend.
The demands of her early home life forced Janice to leave school in the 10th grade in order to help her parents care for her younger siblings. Even though her educational journey was cut short, Janice committed herself to being a lifelong learner. She loved to read and was never long between books. Janice was known for being confident, outspoken and sharp as a tack.
Janice was joined in marriage to James “Jim” Crouch of Bloomington, Indiana. Of this union were born her son, Wesley, and her daughter, Melissa. Janice and Jim purchased a home in Bedford, Indiana and raised their family there.
Janice had many careers in her life. She was an assembly line worker, daycare worker and jewelry clerk. Her favorite career, however, was as a retail sales manager for several boutiques in the artist colony of Nashville, Indiana.
Janice was a person of immense faith. Her faith in Christ carried her through many tribulations. She held on to hope through early widowhood when Jim passed, in her personal battles with epilepsy, illness, and during economic hardships. Her later years brought her far from home. She left her beloved Indiana to start anew in Gillette, Wyoming. She made many new friends there.
Janice went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2025, having been cared for in her final days in Casper, Wyoming. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, and her parents-in-law. She was preceded in death by several siblings but is survived by most of her brothers and sisters. Janice is survived by her children, Wesley Crouch and her daughter Melissa May (husband Jason May). She is survived by her grandchildren, Gabi May Muhlbauer (husband Tom Muhlbauer); Morgan Krueger (husband Bryan Krueger); Hunter Crouch; Bailey Crouch (fiancée Tyler Tillema); and her great-grandchildren, Thomas Muhlbauer, Joseph Tillema and Elaina Tillema.
A celebration of life will be held for Janice at a later date. Janice was very generous and believed in helping the less fortunate. So in lieu of flowers or condolences, the family asks that donations be made to charity. Donations can be made to Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions as well as The Masterson Place, both in Casper, Wyoming.
