James Robert Peterson Jr.

James R. “Pete” Peterson Jr., 81, passed away at his home in Rozet, WY on November 29, 2025. Pete was born July 20, 1944, in Lewiston, MT to James Sr. and Joan Peterson. For a majority of his education, he attended school in Lewiston. He married Barb Wicker January 23, 1964. To the union three children; Darleen, James III and Ronald were born. Pete, Barb and their children lived various places around Wyoming and Colorado. They eventually settled in Gillette, Wy. Pete spent many years working in the oil field for Cyclone Drilling. Over the years Pete made many friends through his work in the oil field as well as his involvement in groups like Customs and Classics. Pete had a strong interest in old cars and could be found restoring them. He was appropriately nicknamed “Tinker” because of his love for working on cars. Pete is survived by daughter Darleen (Bill) Wright of New York, son Ronald (Kristin) Peterson of Gillette, grandson Devin (Ashley) Peterson of Gillette, great-grandkids Jonah, Anna, and Theo Peterson all of Gillette. He is also survived by his brother David and many nieces and nephews and life-long friends. Over the last few years, he was lovingly cared for by Alana Barrier. Pete is proceeded in death by his parents, wife Barb, brother John, and son Jimmy. There is no service planned at this time.
