James "JD" Means

Memorial service for James “JD” Means will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Donnie Colby officiating. Visitation will take place at Gillette Memorial Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2026. James “JD” Means returned his soul to his maker on June 18, 2026. After a battle with cancer, he died peacefully at home surrounded by family. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 52 years, Candace, his children Wanda Luth of Gillette, WY;Cathy Means of Rapid City, SD; Marcia Modec of Luther OK; Patrick (Charlotte) Means of Gillette, WY; Ginny (Mark) Murphy of Roosevelt, UT and Clayton Means of Gillette, and brothers Edward (Ursula) Means and Alvin Ogden. Twelve grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Also his sweet pooch Rosie. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Lois, Leona, Shirley, Barbara, John, Pauline, and 3 sons-in-law, Denis, Branko, and Todd.
