Funeral service for James K. Foster will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Journey Church. Burial will follow at the Gillette-Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Military honors provided by the American Legion Post 42 Drill Team. James Kinsley “Jim” Foster, 79, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away on September 12, 2026. He was a man born of courage and full of life in more ways than one could imagine.
Jim was born on August 1, 1947, to Katie and Gordon Foster. He loved his country and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While in the service, he married his one true love, Donna Bates, in Torrington, Wyoming, in 1967.
Together they raised five children: Jeremy (Christina), Chad (Laura), Jordon (Andrea), Sara (Josh), and Conner. Their children gave them ten grandchildren, Taylor, Sabrina, Danielle, Korben, Lakia, Corina, Ashlyn, Nakaya, Kaylah, and Braydon, and three great-grandchildren, Hadlee, Brinlee, and Kaycee.
Jim loved old cars, motorcycles, and a good hunting or fishing trip. He was never afraid to try a new adventure, whether that meant skydiving or climbing Devils Tower. But his true passions in life were his family and telling a good joke.
When Jim was not spending time with his family, he was providing for them. He worked as an electrician at the Cordero coal mine, where he retired after 33 years.
Jim was loving and kind, and he was always willing to help anyone out or simply sit and talk. He has been welcomed into the arms of the Lord, and he will be missed so much by everyone who knew him.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his sister, Tina; and his parents, Katie and Gordon Foster. He is survived by his five children, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
