Gerald Roy Vest

Funeral service for Gerald Vest will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2020 at Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Thompson officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #42. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Walker Funeral Home. Gerald was led my faith in God and determination to live independently in his home until the day he laid to rest. Gerald Vest, 95, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 18, 2020 while he was surrounded by the love of family in his home. Gerald was born in Claredon, TX on May 4, 1925 to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vest. He had two brothers (Ray and Bill) and one sister (Mac Alou). Gerald met the love of his life, Mary, and married her on November 2, 1946 in Beulah, TX. Three children were added to this union Gerald “Jerry” Vest Jr., Derald Vest, and Teresa Vest (Warner). The family lived in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico before moving to Gillette in 1968. Gerald spent his life providing for his family and being a servant to God. Gerald is survived by his brother Bill, his children; Gerald “Jerry” (Betsy) and Teresa (Ray); his granddaughters; Angie Fite (Shawn), Brandi Mendell (Roger), Karla Eason (Joe), Melissa Kline, and Jessica Baker; his 12 great-grandchildren; Brittani Aldridge (Dalton), Devin Fite (Torei), Seth Fite, Austin Medell, Taylor Mendell, Maci Mendell, Caembrea Kline, Kaeley Kline, Karissa Kline, Karlee Kline, Kaedin Baker, and Makenzie Baker; and great-great-grandchildren; Braycen, Trapper, Scout Aldridge and Brecken Fite. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; Roy and Gladys, his brother Ray, his sister Mac Alou, his wife Mary, and his son Derald.
