Gerald Richard “Jerry” Mankin, born on October 16, 1950, left this world on December 23, 2025. A life marked by the radiant spirit of gentle kindness and an unwavering passion for the simple joys of existence, Jerry was a cherished son, brother, and friend to many.
Jerry was the beloved child of James Richard “Dick” and Ruth (Ridenour) Mankin, whose nurturing love and guidance shaped his life. He grew up surrounded by family in Campbell County, where he attended the Bundy School until the age of eleven. His educational journey continued at the AJ Woods School in Casper, where he found community and support, nurturing his unique disposition until the age of twenty-one. Through it all, he maintained an unwavering zest for life, grounded by the love of his family and the beauty of his surroundings.
In his formative years, Jerry embraced the Boy Scouts, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for nature. With a heart that mirrored the warmth of the Wyoming sun, he thrived in the embrace of the great outdoors, where he fostered a deep affinity for all creatures great and small. His cherished dogs and cats were not merely pets but companions, each animal receiving the love and care that only someone as devoted as Jerry could provide.
Among his many joys, riding his 4-wheeler and scooter symbolized the freedom and exhilaration he embraced in life. These moments of unrestrained joy were filled with laughter and the thrill of exploration, lighting up his days with the vibrancy that defined him.
Jerry is survived by his brothers, John Mankin of Athens, TN, Gene Mankin, James Mankin, and Jannelle Mankin-Mills of Gillette, WY, alongside other family members who hold dearly to the memories that time cannot erase. His presence will be profoundly missed, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Preceding him in death were his father, mother, and beloved brother, James Allen, each of whom has been a pillar of strength in his life. As we gather to remember Gerald Richard “Jerry” Mankin, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, compassion, and an unyielding love for the simplest pleasures. May he rest in peace, forever cherished in the memories of those who loved him dearly.
