Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 4-7 pm at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Georgia Barbour, age 72, of Gillette, died Saturday, June 16, 2018. Georgia was born on November 10, 1945, in Riverton, WY the fourth child of Leetha (Cooper) and George ‘Cot’ Griffin. Georgia attended Arapaho School, graduated Riverton Highschool 1963, and obtained a Bachelor of Science Nursing from the University of Wyoming 1970. Her childhood years were on the family ranch, on the banks of the Little Wind River, in the Arapaho Community. She was a skilled horseman, often riding 8 hours a day all summer checking cattle. Being horseback was a love she carried through her life through ranching, barrel racing, hobby riding; even purchasing her latest horse at age 70. Georgia met Steve Barbour on a blind date in Casper, WY. They were married six months later in Riverton, WY on February 26, 1971. To this union three daughters were born, Stephanie, Judi and Charla. Steve and Georgia’s early years were spent on the ranch in Riverton. Georgia was the school nurse at St. Stephens Indian School. In 1976 the family moved to Gillette where they partnered in beginning Barbour Water Well Service, later named Aqua Pumps, Inc. Her nursing career included working at Public Health, family practices, and home health services in Gillette. She worked from pediatrics through geriatrics. The highlight of her career was delivering her 13th grandchild who was born in haste. Georgia delighted in being a mother and grandmother. She was instrumental in building Horse Creek 4-H Club and was a lifelong 4-H supporter, starting in her youth, through her daughters’ involvement and beyond. One of her many strengths was nurturing: people, her livestock and pets, and bountiful flower and vegetable gardens. She also had the heart of a servant. Her family takes comfort that she was serving others even within a few hours of her passing. 40 years ago Georgia accepted Jesus as her Savior and strived to live as an example of His unconditional love. She was active in Bethlehem Community Church and the past 24 years at Calvary Community Church in Bible study, prayer groups, nursery, and loving others. Haiti and Mexico both benefited from mission trips she and Steve went on. One of her greatest joys was the birth or adoption of each of her grandchildren and seeing them walk in the Lord. This past fall, as new retirees they traveled through the Pacific Northwest into Canada, pulling travel trailers along with three other couples. She enjoyed having her family together, crocheting, sending care packages, gardening, chasing deer from the garden, stream fishing, barn cats, and encouraging the downtrodden. Throughout the years she belonged to CowBelles/CattleWomen, 4-H leader, Election Board, Wyoming Homemakers Club, MEGA ranch corporation, Pilots for Christ-WY. Georgia was an organ-tissue-bone donor. She is survived by her husband, Steve; children, Stephanie (Kirk) Haas of LaGrange, WY, Judi (Andrew) Blum and Charla (Matt) Lacy of Ft Collins, CO; Grandchildren, Chloe, Luke, Sarah, Hannah, Lily, Joshua, Moriah, Noah, Liam, Selah, Josiah, Micah, Isaiah, Elijah and a bonus Tasha Lim of Malaysia; sisters Mary Gradert of Riverton, WY, Evelyn (Dan) King of Loveland, WY, Susan (Joel) Bousman of Boulder, WY, Alice (Jerry) Norris of Omaha, NE.
