Douglas Eugene Manning

Douglas E Manning, 63, passed away much too soon on July 26, 2026, at his home.

Doug was born to Richard and Carol Manning on April 15, 1963, in Condersport, PA where he joined his older sister Lois. He spent his early childhood enjoying the outdoors of New York and PA. Due to his father's job, they settled in Gillette in 1977 where he later graduated high school. One of his fond early memories was when he participated in the Pony Express re-enactment (around 1990). His horse stumbled and the dust was flying. He stayed on and galloped out of the dust! He always felt he was born in the wrong era. Later his motorcycle became his iron horse.

In 1995 he met his love, Christine Zavada. They were married on Dec 13, 2004. Since 1995 they been together for 31 years. Together, they have enjoyed their younger years taking several motorcycle trips and just loving life.

Doug took great pride in doing all his own tasks. Any home job was rarely hired out. Some would say he was a Jack of all Trades. He did several constructions jobs with Fuller, Doc Hardwood Flooring, Silver Dollar, some oil field work, and was an auto mechanic at a few shops including Nannemann Brothers. He enjoyed hunting and camping and he loved working around the home. Besides gardening, with his skills and knowledge he basically remodeled and added on to his entire home.

At first, he may have seemed grumpy or rough around the edges, but once he got to know you, he would give you the shirt off his back. He always went out of his way to help a neighbor or a friend.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Manning, his stepson Larry (Kia) Spradlin, five grandchildren and his sister Lois (Scott) Worden.

He was never fond of long goodbyes or fancy fanfare. He preferred quiet moments and memories. Due to his wishes, cremation has occurred and no services have been planned.
