A time of gathering will take place at 11:00 a.m. and funeral services for Diana Swensen Ryan will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Donnie Colby officiating. Diana K. Gubbels Swensen Ryan, daughter of Francis and Theresa Gubbels of Hartington, Nebraska. Diana was born on May 11, 1946, in Yankton, SD and proceeded into heaven on April 27, 2026, in her home.
Diana grew up in the Hartington area, went to grade school at Spring Valley, and graduated from Cedar Catholic High School in 1964. Then she worked in Yankton at the Red Owl and Sunshine grocery store. Diana married Jerald Swensen in April 1972 and in August 1973, they moved to Gillette, Wyoming. They were blessed with one child, Dorinda. In June 1980, she married Mike Ryan and was blessed with a son, Albert. During their marriage, they lived in Scottsdale, Arizona and ranched in Weston, Wyoming, and later divorced.
Diana met her soul companion in 1994, Daniel Paxton, which she was with till preceding into heaven. Diana worked in many clubs (Moose lodge, American Legion, and the Eagles,) and the Campbell County School as the lunch lady. Diana loved gardening, canning, and doing anything with her grandchildren. Another love was bowling (going to Nationals), and gambling with friends.
She is survived by her companion, Danial Paxton, daughter Dorinda (Glen) Smith, son Albert (Chrystal) Ryan, brother Frances (Janell) Gubbles Jr, sister Patricia Gubbles Elam and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Diana is preceded in death by her parents Francis and Theresa Gubbles, brother Clifford Gubbles, nephew John Gubbles, first husband Jerald Swensen.
Following the service, there will be a gathering at the Moose Lodge with food and drinks. The family requests that donations be made to benefit Diana’s Angels account set up at First National Bank.
