Charles Edward Hurst, 75, drifted peacefully into the arms of Jesus on October 19, 2025. Chuck - Chuckles - Pappy - Papa - or Santa, by whatever name you called him, he was an incredible man to have in your life. Chuck was born in Hammond, Indiana, on October 20, 1949 to Ruben Hurst and Carol Hurst.
Chuck spent most of his life as a businessman. He ran several companies, owned companies and was also the public service Director for the Ute Indian tribe in Cortez, Colorado. It was while living in Cortez, that Chuck met the love of his life, Diane. Both Chuck and Diane have said many times, they wish they had met each other much earlier in life. They were married in March 2009. After Chuck retired from the business community, he taught school. He sponsored FBLA, taught business classes and computer classes, as well as substitute teaching after his second retirement.
Chuck was an avid bowler, he loved his time on the alley. He also loved playing cards with his friends at “the Over the Hill Gang “.
Chuck is survived by his wife Diane; sons, Kevin and Ruben; grandson, Max; Brother, Kenneth; sister, Gaylel and his stepdaughter, Tori.
There will be a graveside gathering to celebrate Chuck’s life on October 29, 2025 at 2 PM at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting that donations be made to Campbell County Hospice, 300 S. Burma, Gillette, Wyoming 82716.
