Charles "Chuck" John Bell

February 8, 1957 — June 15, 2025

Gillette

Chuck Bell passed away June 15, 2025 at the age of 68 after a lengthy battle with ALS. Surrounded by family and loved ones, he passed peacefully at the Campbell County Hospital.

Chuck was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on February 8, 1957 to Lester and Judy (Carolyn) Bell. His siblings include Jim Bell of Phoenix and Linda (Gary) Ford of Carpinteria, California. He attended Sheridan High School and joined the United States Navy in 1975. After completing 4 years of service aboard the USS Saratoga, aircraft carrier, he returned to Sheridan.

He was married while in the service and had 3 children, Christopher, Brandi and Cody.

He worked for Sweetheart Bread in Sheridan, Wyoming for over 20 years. He married Patricia L. (Gray) Roswadovski on August 31, 2002. In the marriage he gained another son and daughter, Justin Roswadovski and Jessi Roswadovski. Chuck moved to Gillette Wyoming in 2001 to start a business, Big Horn Well Tech, with Justin. He continued running Big Horn Well Tech until his retirement in March of 2025.

Chuck’s greatest passion was music and namely drumming which he started at a very early age. Even in his early teen years he was playing the drums in several different bands which helped him through very difficult times after losing both of his parents by age 14. He was 100% Rock and Roll until his focus on music changed to playing on worship teams at local churches. Chuck volunteered as a drummer for any opportunity he was offered, including Roadway Alliance, Journey Church, Seventh Day Adventist, Youth Ministries and Celebrate Recovery Ministries. In 2013 Chuck helped establish the 5th Sunday Community Worship that pulled in many denominations around the community to gather together quarterly for a united time of worship. That ministry ran for 5 years until he retired from it in 2018.

In recent years, as his ALS progressed, his desire was so strong to continue his worship drumming that his wife Patti fashioned a glove that would secure the drumstick to his right hand after loss of the use of that hand. Chuck amazed everyone when he continued to drum with the use of only one arm and did an amazing job. In the last days and hours of his life on this earth, he continued that passion in keeping time with his feet to the worship music playing in his hospital room as he was surrounded by loved ones and the twinkle in his eye and a humorous grin that could be discerned even through his oxygen mask never left his face.

All who know and love Chuck understand that one of his greatest gifts was his insatiable and crazy sense of humor. He loved to play pranks on his family and friends. He encouraged his grandchildren to create “Birthday skits”, held numerous contests for them, and broke as many rules as he could in the process. Although at times he should have been, he never seemed to be embarrassed by his crazy shenanigans.

Chuck is survived by his wife Patti Bell, children Chris (Amelda) Bell, Brandi (DJ) Oster, Justin (Kristina) Roswadovski, Jessi Roswadovski all of Gillette, WY and Cody Bell of Sheridan, WY; many grandchildren and three great grandchildren; siblings Jim Bell of Phoenix, AZ; Linda (Gary) Ford of Carpinteria, CA; Jaci (Mark) Stuemky of Leander, TX; Mike (Renee) Gray of Cheyenne, WY; mother-in-law Connie Gray of Cedar Park, TX; aunts and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Lester and Judy Bell; father-in-law Malcom Gray; and several aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life will be held at High Plains Community Church in Gillette, Wyoming on July 8, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., and will be officiated by Steven Nichols and assisted by Lester Bentley.
