Carl Edward Lynch

Our brother, Carl Lynch, found his freedom from pain and earned his angel wings April 25, 2026, at Campbell County Health, after a hard-fought battle with lung disease. Carl was born November 1, 1952, to Melvin E Lynch and Georgia L (Puls) Lynch in Laramie, WY. He joined two older sisters Linda and Billie with Margie completing the family in 1955. Gillette has been Carl’s home since 1952, moving from Laramie as a baby when his dad became the Campbell County Extension Agent. He attended CCHS as a proud Camel, lettering in football, basketball, and track. Graduating in 1971 with honors, he attended the University of Wyoming, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Management. While at UW he became an avid Cowboy Football fan and remained so no matter what the record. After graduation, he returned to Gillette and worked for Campbell County Road and Bridge before beginning a career in the mining industry in 1979. He retired from Amax Coal after more than 29 years. Second, only in time shared with family and lifelong friends, Carl found his greatest joy, contentment and peace being in the mountains. He lived at his cabin near Deer Haven and Meadowlark Lake as much as possible until his declining health made travel too challenging. He loved all things “outdoorsy” including but not limited to boating, hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, and photographing anything nature. Entertaining family and friends at the cabin, was always a favorite with Carl. There he proudly showed off the brightest stars at night, a good campfire. wildlife and never missed a chance to have everyone “howl at the moon”. His hearty and contagious laugh will be missed but not forgotten by those he was fiercely loyal to. Carl was a son, best brother ever and the uncle who followed and supported his niece and nephews and then great nephew and nieces with unsurpassed pride. He is survived by his sisters: Linda Lynch, Billie Mandeville and Margie (Michael) Von Flatern. Nephews: Mike Dorr, Travis (Sarah) Dorr, Brad Mandeville, and BJ (Brett Fieldcamp) Mandeville. Great-nephew: Aidan Dorr and Great-nieces: Reese Dorr, Elli Dorr and Avery Dorr. Stepsiblings: Steve (DeeDee) Barbour, Tom (Linda) Barbour and Judy (Rich) Lynde. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents: Mel and Rachel Lynch, Georgia and Ralph Barbour, Brother-in-law Bud Mandeville, Niece Dani Mandeville, and stepsister Ginny Nanneman. Also preceding him were his grandparents and nearly all aunts, uncles and a cousin. A Celebration of Life for Carl will be held July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pisgah Community Room.
