Betty Lanette McMinn was called home to be with her Lord on August 23, 2026, at Monument Hospice in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the age of 83. Betty’s story began on June 15, 1943, in the small town of Calloway, Nebraska, where she was welcomed into the world by her parents, Armada Elma (Ryun) Dolcater and Robert Winton Dolcater. From an early age, Betty had a spark for life and expression as a student at Kimball, Nebraska, where she graduated in 1961. She found her voice as a student director of the Drama Club, and as a member of Campfire Girls., foreshadowing a life spent connecting with others through words and warmth. Her faith took root early as well; on March 25, 1956, she was baptized at Trinity Methodist Church, a foundation that would carry her through the many seasons of life. On December 29, 1961, Betty married Donald Hullinger, and from that union came four children who would become the greatest joy of her life: Donald Jr., Corey, JoEllen, and Steven. Years later, on April 9, 1998, Betty found love again when she married Duff McMinn, gaining a stepson, Kurt, and expanding the family’s circle even further. For 34 years, Betty poured her heart into her work at Farmers Co-op, where she came to know and cherish the customers who walked through those doors. To Betty, they were never just customers, but friends and family she looked forward to seeing. Her joy for connection carried into her personal life as well; she was a beloved member of the Red Hat Society, delighting in the fellowship and fun that came with it. She treasured her many trips to Deadwood and never turned down a good game of Bingo, always ready for a little friendly competition. Above all else, Betty’s greatest legacy was the love she poured into her family. She leaves behind a beautiful, lasting imprint on this world through her children, Donald (Tina) Hullinger Jr., Corey (Lisa) Hullinger, JoEllen (Don) Wilson, Steven (Michele) Hullinger, and stepson Kurt (Tammy) McMinn, the remarkable gift of 15 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit forward. Betty will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, her devotion to her family, and the countless lives she touched along the way. Though her passing leaves a quiet space in the hearts of those that loved her, her memory will live on in every story shared and every gathering where her name is spoken with love. Betty is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Betty Dolcater , and brother-in-law Gene (Sharon) Hullinger, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Donald Hullinger and Duff McMinn, as well as her parents, Robert and Armada Dolcater, step-dad OJ Carney, brother Robert Dolcater Jr., sister JaneAnne Dolcater, brothers-in-laws Leo Hullinger Jr., Bob Hullinger, sisters-in-law Dorothy Weiman, Mary Zitterkopf, and Loretta Wilson. A memorial service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. September 4, 2026, at New Life Church, Gillette. Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s of Wyoming, 2232 Dell Range Blvd., Suite 101, Cheyenne, WY 82009, in loving tribute to Betty’s memory.
