Allen Dean Braak, 78, of Wright, Wyoming, passed away on January 18, 2026.
Allen was born on October 28, 1947, to Ben and Margaret (Ysbrand) Braak in Lennox, South Dakota. He was raised on a farm and graduated from Lennox High School in 1965. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served in Vietnam as an Army medic.
In 1971, Allen married Charleen Johnson in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. They lived in several towns throughout Wyoming, where Allen worked in industrial construction, helping build numerous mines in the area. Four children were born to this union: Margie, Richard, Paul, and Stephanie.
In 1983, Allen married Judy Mealey, and together they welcomed a daughter, Amy. Allen continued working in construction and property management until he joined the City of Wright in 1985. He remained employed there until his retirement in 2016.
Allen enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends. He and Judy spent countless hours in their backyard, which they lovingly transformed into a peaceful oasis. They were always surrounded by friends and family—attending their grandchildren’s school events, playing cards, or hosting gatherings at their home.
Allen is survived by his children Amy, Margie, Stephanie, and Paul; stepchildren Lynn, Barbara, Julie, and Edward; his brothers and sisters; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard; his wife, Judy; his brother, Bernie; and his parents.
