Alexander Hutton Gilmour, III, 71, of Gillette, WY, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on August 28, 2025, after a long battle with ALS.
Alex was born February 17, 1954 in Logan,WV, the son of J.C. and Ruby (Dingess) Gilmour. Alex graduated from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, FL in 1972 before beginning a carpentry apprenticeship which led to a long and successful career in the construction industry.
Alex married Vicki (Crelli) on July 10,1973. Their love story started as teenagers on the beaches of Florida and lasted the remainder of his life. After moving to five states and having three children along the way, the couple moved to Gillette in 1982 where they made their home and raised their family. In 2023, the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the beach surrounded by friends and family.
Alex worked as a General Contractor at various companies before starting his own, Denali Construction. He left his mark on numerous homes through extensive remodels and renovations. His many commercial projects include Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Thunder Basin Orthopedics, Security State Bank and Cottonwood Terrace.
Alex especially loved golfing and watching Nascar both on TV and in person. He attended many races over the years including annual trips to the Daytona 500. Alex was a longtime member of Gillette Masonic Lodge #28, Kalif Shriners, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Jesters.
Remaining to cherish Alex’s memory are his loving wife Vicki; children Alex (Courtnie), Amanda, and Jaymi; grandchildren Denali (Kristin), Daysha, Juno, Xander and Wilder; great-grandchildren Myrah and Cylus; siblings John (Teresa), Bruce (Diana), Karen (Rob), T.J. (Jon) and Sandy (Garry). Preceding Alex in death are his parents J.C. and Ruby and his brother Bill.
A celebration of life will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Gillette on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Seating will be limited so the service will also be streamed live on Zoom (Meeting ID 355-671-1910, Password: 632531)
