Memorial service for John Smith will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Shelter with Pastor Dan Morgan of the High Plains Community Church officiating. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Stevenson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Mr. Smith, age 70, died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at his home of natural causes with his family by his side.John Raymond Smith was born July 22, 1935 in Lincoln, NE the son of Edward and Alice (Doyle) Smith. He graduated from Palmyra, NE high school in 1953. On July 1, 1960 he married Janice Loewen in Bridgewater, SD. John worked as a Butter maker for Gate City Dairy in Rapid City, SD. In 1969 he moved his family to Gillette, WY. In Gillette John worked in the oil field, for the City of Gillette and BOCES. John loved music, his greatest joy was to play his guitar for his family and friends.Survivors include his wife, Janice of Gillette, 2 daughters: Joyce Hefenieder of Cheyenne, WY and Julie Glass of Tucson, AZ, 2 sons: Thomas Smith and Timothy Smith both of Aurora, CO. John is also survived by 1 brother, Patrick Smith of Grand Junction, CO, 2 sisters: Dorothy Anderson of Phoenix, AZ, Margaret Warner of Lincoln, NE, 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.John was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Campbell County Memorial Hospital in John?s name.Memorials and condolences may sent in John?s name in care of Stevenson Funeral Home, 210 W. 5th St., Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonandsons.com
