Memorial service for Steven Bietz, age 47, of Gillette, Wyoming will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Sonja Brucklacher and Pastor Marty Crump of the Family Life Church officiating, with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post # 42. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, January 23, 2006 at Stevenson Funeral Home from 5:30 ? 7. Steve died Friday, January 20, 2006 at his home. Steven Richard was born February 8, 1958 in Oakland, California to Gerald Harmon and Janet Vogel. As a toddler he moved to Delmont, South Dakota. His mother married Melvin Bietz who adopted him at the age of 2. Steve was raised and educated in Delmont and graduated from high school in 1976. Upon his graduation he entered into the service, working as a radio operator in the Army. He was honorably discharged in 1979. Steve returned to South Dakota and married Lessa Hall, together they had 1 son Daniel Melvin. The family moved to Gillette in the early 80?s. The couple later divorced. Steve worked in the oilfields as a truck driver. In 1987 Steve married Virginia Anderson. Together they had two children: Ashley Colleen and Garrett Arnold. In the 1990?s Steve began to work in the coal mine industry. On December 8, 2003 Steve married DeeAnna Culver in Gillette. Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing in Jackson Hole and in the Big Horns. He took pride in and enjoyed working on the home he had built. Steve very much enjoyed basketball, playing when he was younger and watching it on television as well as attending many games. Steve is survived by his wife, DeeAnna; parents: Melvin and Maurine Bietz, 5 children: Ashley and Garrett Bietz, Damon Wrampe, Dannelle Mauch all of Gillette and Dana Wood of Texas; 5 brothers: Mark Klassen of Wayne, Nebraska, Jeff Klassen of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Bryan Bietz of Gillette, Keith Bietz of Trent, South Dakota and Jon Bietz of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, 1 sister, Debbie Bradley of Casper, Wyoming, 2 half sisters: Stephanie and Brenda Harmon and 4 grandchildren: Amber and Adam Bietz, Danea Wood, Gage and Hannah Mauch.
