Funeral services for Fred Floyd will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Marty Crump of The Family Life Church officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Fred Floyd, Jr. passed away March 3, 2006 in Buffalo, Wyoming after a long battle with cancer.Fred Floyd, Jr. was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on May 2, 1932 the son of Fred L. Floyd and Doris Packard Floyd. He was an only child. Schooling was at a rural grade school. In 1948 he quit school and returned to the ranch he loved, where he spent the rest of his life.In 1954 Freddy and Darlene Carson were united in marriage at Rapid City, South Dakota on April 19. They were the third generation to ranch and live on Wildhorse Creek, 26 miles northwest of Gillette.Three children were born to their union; Rick, Sherry and Toni. Fred was a 4-H leader for Western Range 4-H and enjoyed his work with the Campbell County Fair. He worked on the Campbell County Fire Board and was a volunteer Rural Fireman for over 30 years.A favorite pastime was old western movies and he was an avid reader of western books. He enjoyed his family and had a special spot in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially treasured hunting in Canada for sheep and caribou and hunting for deer and sheep in Wyoming.He is survived by his wife, children Rick Floyd of Gillette, Sherry Mackey of Story, Wyoming and Toni Wagoner of Aladdin, Wyoming, six grandchildren; Brandon Dorr, Zane Wagoner, Brad Mackey, Kara Haney, Wendy Wagoner and Ryan Floyd. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Richard Carson.He was preceded in death by his parents and one beloved grandson Tyrell Floyd.If so desired, memorials are suggested to benefit the 4-H Clover Corrals or Arvada Women?s Club.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Mr. Floyd?s name in care of Stevenson Funeral Home 210 W. 5th St., Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonandsons.com
