Memorial service for James Stewart will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel Gillette, Wyoming. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.James Douglas ?Porky? Stewart, age 67, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.James was born on February 5, 1939 to William and Josephine (Russell) Stewart in Belgrade, Montana. As a young boy Jim attended many different schools around Montana due to his father being transferred with the Northern Pacific Railroad. Jim graduated high school as Willow Creek?s Salutatorian in 1957. After graduation Jim enlisted into the United States Air Force and served 3 years. On June 1, 1958 Jim married Verna Clark, in Boise, Idaho. The couple made their home in Bozeman, Montana and began their family. For many years Jim worked in various sawmills in Montana and Wyoming. In 1962 they moved to Dubois, Wyoming where James was given the famous nickname ?Porkey? even to this day very few know ?Porkey? by his given name. In 1975 Jim moved his family to Gillette, Wyoming where he worked at L & H Welding as a machinist. In 1980 he went to work for AMAX Coal, at the Bellaire Mine. Porky retired on December 31, 1999. After his retirement Porkey enjoyed being onery and traveling with the love of his life Verna. Porkey enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his two grandsons. James is survived by his wife; son Clark Stewart of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter, Tammy (Mike) Hettinger of Gillette, Wyoming; 2 grandsons: Dusty and Daniel Hettinger of Colorado; several nieces and nephews and 4 brothers.He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Candice Tomas; sister Lulabelle and a brother Ordley.In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to benefit the Campbell County Hospice.
