Memorial service for Maureen Olins will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Highland Park Community Church in Casper, Wyoming with Pastor Milo Miller officiating. Stevenson Funeral Home of Gillette is entrusted with the arrangements.Maureen Olins, age 46, of Arvada, Wyoming died on May 12, 2006 in a motorcycle accident.Maureen Louise was born on February 19, 1960 in Casper, Wyoming the daughter of John and Viola (Gagnon) McAteer. She was raised and educated in Casper graduating from Natrona County High School. Upon graduation she attended Casper College. While in college Maureen began using her talent for art by creating posters that would promote communities by advertising their businesses. In 1983 Maureen moved to California where she met her first true love Douglas Olins; the couple married in 1985. From this union came two children: Wesley and Jessica. First and foremost Maureen was a mother and delighted in caring for her kids. While living in California with her family, she did work as a dental technician but continued to showcase her talent for art by painting several murals in the community. Many still exists on the businesses today. In 1991 Maureen returned home to Casper. Always finding different ways to support herself by doing what she loved, Maureen would do artwork and lettering on business windows as well as doing portraits and caricatures for individuals. In 1999 Maureen came to Gillette to do caricatures drawings at the then - new Hastings store. Maureen continued to reside in Gillette until recently moving to Arvada. She loved motorcycles, not only riding them, but also doing the mechanical work on her own motorcycles. Her love of art was evident in almost every area of her life as well as the love for her children.Maureen is survived by her son, Wesley Olins; daughter, Jessica Olins; Douglas Olins all of San Diego, California; 3 sisters: Trish Bradach of Casper, Wyoming, Regina Behrend of Meridian, Idaho and Annie McAteer of Casper, Wyoming; 7 brothers: Jim McAteer of Post Falls, Idaho, John McAteer, Pat McAteer and Joe McAteer all of Casper, Wyoming, Dennis McAteer, Paul McAteer both of Pocatello, Idaho and Phillip McAteer of Colorado; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Veronica Vang and brother Tom McAteer.Memorials may be made in Maureen?s name to benefit her children.
