Funeral services will be held Thursday July 13, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Stevenson ? Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joseph Spencer, Treasured Memories Hospice Chaplain officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Gillette, Wyoming. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday July 12, 2006 from 4-7 pm at the Stevenson -Wilson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given in Laurance?s name to Sharon?s Home Health and Treasured Memories Hospice and Palliative Care.Laurance A. Bauer, age 78, died Saturday, July 8, 2006 of natural causes, at his home surrounded by his family. Laurance was born in Glasgow, Montana on January 8, 1928 to Emil and Mildred (Childs) Bauer. He married Thelma Mayer on March 25, 1955 in Stanley, North Dakota. They had three children. Laurance attended Nashua Public School in Nashua, Montana. He joined the Navy in 1945 in Butte, Montana and served in the Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Chilton and on Guam. He was honorably discharged on November 3, 1947. Laurance worked with Gulf Oil Seismograph until 1956 and then drove truck for Lawrence Transportation of Tioga, North Dakota and Getter Trucking of Gillette, Wyoming. His last two years of driving truck was on the North Slope of Alaska for Peak Oil Field Service. For the past sixteen years he owned and operated Bauer Pilot Car Service of Gillette. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Laurance is survived by his wife; Thelma of fifty-one years, daughter; Cathie (Dan) Updike of Gillette, Wyoming, son; LeRoy (Michelle) Bauer of Anchorage, Alaska. sisters: Cora Vuncannon of Sacramento, California., NormaJean (Richard) McMinimy of Pearland, Texas, and a brother; Wilbur (Ruth) Bauer of Williston, North Dakota, grandchildren: Laurie (Scotty) Johner of Gillette, Wyoming, Bryon (April) Updike of Soldotna, Alaska, David Bauer of Gillette, Wyoming, Melissa and Misty Bauer of Anchorage, Alaska, great-grandchildren: (the light of his life,) Danielle, Brianna, Lacion, Zayaire, and his beloved dog, Princess. Laurance was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and an infant son, Steven.
