Funeral services for Larry Haynes of Gillette, Wyoming will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Morgan of the High Plains Community Church officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.Mr. Haynes, age 71, died on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming of cancer.Larry was born on May 31, 1935 the son of Charles and Nona (Probasco) Haynes in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he was raised and educated. Upon graduation he entered the United States Army serving in California. Here he met his life long friend, Virginia Laca. The couple married on November 26, 1956 in Redmond, California. After the couple was married they moved to Cheyenne where they made their home and started their family. In 1968 Larry opened a wild game processing plant and taxidermy shop in Gillette, Wyoming. In 1984 he moved his shop to Dayton, Wyoming, which he continued operating until 1991. From 1977 until1990, Larry looked forward to working in Canadian Hunting Camps. He drove school bus in Dayton until 1996 when he retired. In his retirement Larry would travel to North and South Carolina during the winters where it was warmer, but he would always consider Wyoming home and enjoyed each summer here. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting and camping in the Black Hills and Big Horns as well as in Canada. Larry was a lifetime National Rifle Association member. He was competitive in rifle shooting and was a Distinguished Expert with a pistol. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons: Brion (Leahmae) Haynes of Manning, South Carolina, Bret (Pam) of Pahrump, Nevada and Blake Haynes of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter, Kim (Jeff) Evans of Gillette, Wyoming; sisters: Jeanne Michelena of Buffalo, Wyoming and Sharon Kay Palmer of Casper, Wyoming; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Larry?s name in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonwilson.com.
