Graveside services for Harry Burton of Gillette formerly of Greybull, Wyoming will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Maness of the High Plains Community Church officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #42 of Gillette.Mr. Burton, age 84, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home of natural causes.Harry was born the son of Isaac & Adalee (Forrester) Burton in Hubbard, Texas on October 9, 1921. He was raised and educated in Texas. In November of 1942 Harry entered the military serving in the United States Army as a truck driver during World War II. In February of 1946 he was discharged from active duty in Omaha, Nebraska. He continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard. Harry resided in Omaha for the next 20 years working as an over the road truck driver. He married Corita Shipley on January 31, 1955 in Glenwood, Iowa. In the late 60?s Harry and his family moved to Gillette, Wyoming where he began working as an oilfield mechanic. In 1982 Harry retired and in 1989 he moved with his wife to Greybull, Wyoming where he continued to enjoy retirement. Harry was a good mechanic and liked helping people out by working on not only their vehicles but also bikes, appliances and just about everything else. And of course Harry enjoyed visiting and spending time with his family.He is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, 2 sons: William Burton of Anaheim, California and Richard Burton of Gillette, Wyoming; 1 daughter, Evelyn Iselin of Omaha, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters: Adalee Anderson of Dallas, Texas and Mary Allman of Tucson, Arizona and1 sister-in-law, Marcella Burton of Fair Oaks, California.He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and 1 sister.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Harry?s name to Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonwilson.com.
