Funeral services for Mary Ellen Keil, 85, will be held Wednesday November 15, 2006 at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Gillette. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 14, 2006 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Casper, Wyoming. Mrs. Keil died November 11, 2006 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home of natural causes. Mary Ellen was born August 2, 1921 to Homer and Clara Thompson in Greeley, Colorado. She moved to Rawlins, Wyoming in 1923. Mary Ellen attended schools in Rawlins. She graduated with honors from Rawlins High School. After graduation she worked for the Rawlins National Bank and Dresser Engineering Company in Sinclair. She married J. Herbert Keil in Rawlins on October 26, 1947. They moved to Casper in 1952. They had two children: a daughter Shirley and son James. Mary Ellen was a member of the First United Methodist Church; a 70 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary; a member of the B.P.O. Does #38 and the A.B.W.A.. She was active for many years with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls, working for the Central Wyoming Council of Camp Fire Office for several years. Mary Ellen moved to Gillette in 1990 to be closer to her daughter Shirley and family. She enjoyed being involved with her grandchildren Jennifer and Joseph and watching them grow up, attending their concerts and events. She was active at the First United Methodist Church in Gillette helping where and when she could. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister. She is survived by her daughter Shirley (Terry) Uhler of Gillette, her son James Keil of Sandy Valley, Nevada, her granddaughter Jennifer Uhler of Estonia, grandson Joseph (Janell) of Gillette, and great grandchildren Carter and Kadence Uhler.
