Graveside service for Corita Burton will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 15, 2006 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery shelter with Pastor Jeff Maness of the High Plains Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home of Gillette is entrusted with the arrangements. Mrs. Burton, age 68, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home of natural causes. Corita Marie was born April 14, 1938, the daughter of Benjamin and Catherine (Berlinghoff) Shipley in Omaha, Nebraska. She moved with her family at a young age to Ranchester, Wyoming where she lived for some time until moving back to Nebraska where she completed her schooling. On January 31, 1955 she married Harry Burton in Glenwood, Iowa. The couple made their home in Omaha until moving to Gillette, Wyoming in the late 60?s. While living in Gillette, Corita worked as an administrative assistant. In 1989 when her husband retired the couple moved to Greybull, Wyoming. Harry and Corita enjoyed retirement there. In 2005 the couple returned to Gillette to be near their family. Corita enjoyed gardening, whether it was her flower bed or vegetable garden, she enjoyed every aspect. Corita loved to visit and spend time with her family. She is survived by her son, Richard Burton; granddaughter, Ashley Burton; sister: Karen McClure and her husband Dee Lee all of Gillette, Wyoming; brother, Michael Legerski of California; Aunt, Betty Schimtz of Omaha, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews. Corita was preceded in death by parents, brother, Ben Shipley and her husband in October of 2006.
