Filomena Faria

Funeral services for Filomena R. Faria will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 11:00a.m., at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home with Father Philip Vaske of St. Matthew?s Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.Mrs. Faria, age 89, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.Filomena Rosa was born on March 22, 1918 in Hzores, Portugal the daughter of Jose and Leonor (Pererie) de Rosa. She was raised in Azous in a traditional Portuguese family. Filomean was a hard worker, caring for her younger siblings washing laundry in the river, caring firewood and caring water to their home. Tasks that continued after her marriage to her husband Tomas Faria. In 1968 Filomena came to America to meet her husband who had been establishing their home in California. In America Filomena greatly appreciated running water the instant heat of the stove and other modern connivances that we take for granted. The family lived in different areas of California where she worked at various jobs in the manufacturing industry. In 2002 she moved with her daughter, Doris to Gillette, Wyoming where she has resided since. Filomena enjoyed shopping and watching TV despite the language barrier. Awesome mother and grandmother is what defined her the most.She is survived by four daughters: Laonor (Manuel) Machado of Hilmar, California, Mary (Ted) Dakasha of Turlock, California, Dina (Joe) Silveria of Atwater, California and, Doris (Travis Sr.) Cruse of Gillette, Wyoming; two sisters; sixteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, son, two sisters and two brothers.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Filomena?s name in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. 5th St., Gillette, WY 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonwilson.com.
