A Celebration of Life for lifelong Gillette resident Anna Jean Bennor will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010, at the Christian Church at 100 E. Flying Circle Drive in Gillette. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
Jean Bennor, age 82, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Campbell County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Anna Jean Bennor was born at the family homestead southeast of Gillette on February 4, 1928, to Frederick and Nellie (Solomon) Stuart. She attended school in Campbell County through her junior year in high school when she left school to work following the death of her father.
She met the love her life, Morris Bennor, with whom she would spend over 63 years of her life, at 4-H camp. When he returned from serving in the army during World War II, they met once again and fell in love. They were married on February 7, 1947. To this union two children were born, Nellie and Judy. They spent the first 10 years of their marriage west of Gillette farming and raising cattle. After moving to town, Jean worked at Wilson's Dry Goods, Decker's Food Center, and at a meat packing plant wrapping meat during hunting season, but mostly she was a wife and mother devoting her time to her family. She loved her family and was always there to help however possible. She never missed a school program or event that her grandchildren were involved in.
She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church and in recent years, rarely missed a Sunday unless she was physically unable to attend.
Jean is survived by her husband, Morris of Gillette, daughters Nellie Wermager and Judy Jundt, both of Gillette, four grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, sister Vera Rosentreter of Gillette, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Nellie Stuart, brothers George, Bob, and Freddy, sisters Evelyn House and Hazel Wintermute, son-in-law Richard Wermager and an infant grandson.
The family requests that lieu of flowers donations be made to the memorial that has been established in Jean's name and can be sent in care of Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Ct. Gillette, WY 82716. Condolences may also be sent via the website at www.walkerfuneralgillette.com.
